The program arose from a "call for help" that a social leader from the municipality of Santa Rosa, Cauca (a town located 10 hours by bus from Popayán) made to one of the Foundation's coordinators, who traveled in December 2017 on a mission; the leader stated that a difficulty that the boys, men and women went through once they finished high school was that they had no opportunity to continue progressing and the only option left to them was to join the guerrilla, but thanks to the peace process that option ended and now the boys see that opportunities in other legal activities - work and/or study - are not possible. Immediately, the Foundation responded with the organization of the pre-university in its rural headquarters, because the only difference between the boys who aspire to the pre-university in Cauca and those in Bogotá, is that those from Cauca do not have the means to live in Bogotá, so the solution was to organize the pre-university in the rural headquarters where they can live. So we began to talk with the teachers so that instead of having 7 students, from now on they would have 12 or 14. Of course, there was a challenge with the costs, especially of food, clothing, transportation and, of course, tuition once they finished pre-university.
These students must obtain a grade point average higher than 4.0, adhere to a discipline and punctual schedules for the different activities of community life; this method has helped them learn to live in community, to concentrate on their studies, to work as a team and to discover their talents and abilities; a condition that has been definitive for the success of the program has been the constant psychological accompaniment, since all of the young people bring difficulties that need to be treated in order to achieve optimal academic performance.
It is also important to clarify that one of the principles of the Foundation is to instill in them "that nothing should be given away or free", for this reason we enhance their knowledge that they already have of the field in the work of farming, raising and caring for animals, which contributes to that there is milk, chicken, cassava, bananas, coffee and some fruit trees, in addition to the fact that they themselves help in the preparation of their own food, do the cleaning at the headquarters and wash their clothes.
A separate chapter that we must especially mention has been the management that has been given to the family bond, although some of them do not depend on their families for their decisions, the majority do and not always in the most appropriate way because the difficulties in parenting patterns are manifest even now; This has required systematic work with monthly virtual meetings with families so that they know how they can accompany their children in this process and to encourage them to continue dreaming to make their dreams come true.

Up to now, the results are more than satisfactory, since in general the boys arrive with very low self-esteem, without any guidance on what they want from their lives, with very low averages; But as the weeks and months go by, new people emerge, they experience a very positive change, we see the appearance of people with immense capacities who very soon begin to dream and strive to make their dreams come true. It is very encouraging to see that there are already 9 of these boys in college, who otherwise would be joining the ranks of the dissidents or other criminal groups. It is an immense joy for us to see that we can contribute to improving the lives of a few Colombians.
And we can do this thanks to you my very dear friends who believe in the Foundation and collaborate with us, for our part, this program will continue to be a fundamental part, now we ask you for your part to continue helping us, since there are hundreds of thousands Colombians who require an opportunity, we continue to count on you and the friends who want to be part of this dream.
