Bulletin april 2026 - Fundación Zua

With great joy and anticipation, children embrace music education as one of the artistic pillars of Fundación Zuá, where theory and practice come together to develop outstanding talent.

One of the advantages of this program is that most of the children enrolled last year returned this year, allowing their learning processes to continue without having to start from scratch each year.

Only a small group of new students joins the program. The fact that most participants return shows their enthusiasm for the arts program and their willingness to take on challenges, demonstrating their talents in performances for an audience that each year witnesses their progress and new proposals.

Below, we share strategies and actions carried out in our two urban campuses:

SITE PATIO BONITO : Rythme, chant et cordes en action !

Assessment and organization:
We welcomed our new students with great enthusiasm, conducted an initial assessment, and worked intensively on leveling their skills. This allowed us to understand their abilities, and then, with the entire group, we reviewed note reading, pitch exercises, and rhythm practice. We also strategically divided the groups to advance both theory and practice.

Vocal technique and breathing:
Through exercises focused on proper diaphragm use, students understood its vital importance for singing and for playing wind instruments.

Motor skills development and xylophones:
We once again confirmed that music greatly stimulates motor skills and reaction capacity. We practiced percussive memorization on tables and body rhythm imitation games, where each student proposed a new exercise. On the xylophones, students are now quickly locating notes and alternating hands effectively.

Musical ensembles:
- Choir:
  We began working on the African choral piece “Banaha,” focusing on different volume intensities and practicing the major scale in three keys (D, E, and F).
- Guitar:
  We have an ensemble of 7 students. We reviewed the golden rules: posture, hand positioning, and discipline. Students began practicing picking techniques, while the secondary-level group is already learning the minor pentatonic scale and the piece “The Sun Has Set.”

BOSA CAMPUS: Integration, commitment, and melody!

Body percussion and choir:
As in the Patio Bonito campus, we began tuning our voices by learning the lyrics and melody of “Banaha.” We also stimulated motor development through fun body rhythm imitation exercises.
Xylophones:
We took our first technical steps by teaching the correct way to hold mallets and practicing initial exercises to alternate hands on the instrument.

Leveling and staff reading:
We conducted an assessment for new students and worked intensively on leveling their skills. We focused on recognizing musical notes on the staff using the treble clef so that the entire group can progress at the same pace.

Sense of belonging:
We dedicated an important space to raising awareness about the care of instruments and musical equipment, establishing commitments to good behavior to ensure a harmonious learning environment.

The talent of Fundación Zuá has already begun to shine! Music education not only teaches us how to play an instrument or sing in a choir, but also helps develop creativity, motor skills, and teamwork.
