Now in sixth grade, he stands out for his positive attitude toward learning, his independence, dedication, and commitment. He is recognized at his school for his discipline and perseverance. Once he found support and began to believe in himself, his achievements began to open new doors and pave the way for his future.

At just thirteen years old, and despite facing significant economic hardships and family challenges, he embodies resilience. This strength has been nurtured in large part by Fundación Zuá’s support throughout his academic and emotional development, as well as in strengthening his self-esteem. This journey has empowered him to build a solid, disciplined, and independent vision for his future.
Wilneidy Federica González Martínez
At just eight years old, his story is truly inspiring. After experiencing the frustration of falling behind academically, particularly in reading and mathematics, he has regained his motivation to learn through the effectiveness of Fundación Zuá’s personalized support and reinforcement methods. Step by step, he has progressed, discovering through reading new ways to understand, ask questions, and dream. He has transformed disinterest into curiosity and, ultimately, into a genuine desire to learn.
Yoedelin Andrea Martínez Abreu
She came to Fundación Zuá from La Guajira at just six years old, carrying with him the challenges of family circumstances and adapting to a new culture. Yet he also brought a deep sense of tenderness and a strong desire to learn. Now in first grade, he has become a role model of discipline and perseverance for his classmates. Through the Foundation’s academic and educational support program, his literacy and mathematics skills have been strengthened, helping him build a solid foundation for his continued learning and growth.
She expresses her greatest motivation in a simple phrase that says it all: “I want to learn to read all the signs on the street.” She represents the certainty that supporting children in early childhood is the key to opening a world of opportunities, independence, and a brighter future.
Jailyn Jiset
At six years old, when she joined Fundación Zuá, she faced significant barriers in her learning process and in adapting to the demands of school. Her pace of work was noticeably slower than that of her classmates, and she often displayed apathy, lack of motivation, and reluctance toward academic and recreational activities. Thanks to the Foundation’s support strategies, she has made profound progress in her learning pace and literacy skills, developing greater confidence and a stronger ability to engage with the learning process.
In the socio-emotional and attitudinal area, she has undergone a positive transformation in her attitude, characterized by greater enthusiasm, willingness, and interest during learning sessions, as well as increased engagement in recreational activities.
Elián Isaac
At seven years old, she moved from Cartagena to Bogotá, facing complex family circumstances, disruptions to her schooling, and the loss of previously acquired learning. At first, these experiences manifested in rebellious behavior, frustration, and inappropriate and defiant responses to the Foundation’s guidelines. Her progress has been achieved through a sustained process of emotional support, consistent boundary-setting, and ongoing academic guidance to help her overcome learning gaps. At the same time, the development of a trusting relationship with the team of tutors has allowed her to channel her remarkable potential and continue moving forward with greater confidence.
He has undergone a remarkable positive transformation. He is now much more focused, engaged, and committed to learning. He is also known for being a caring and empathetic child who supports his peers, and he has developed a protective role, often helping and looking out for the younger children at the Foundation.
Juan Pablo Rodriguez
At fourteen years old, she faced significant challenges in her educational journey, particularly low academic performance, inconsistent commitment, lack of motivation, and a marked disinterest in her school responsibilities. Today, as a ninth-grade student, she actively seeks support and has strengthened her personal organization skills, making her schoolwork a priority. This progress is reflected in the timely completion of her assignments and the thoughtful, consistent way she approaches her schoolwork.
Juan Pablo’s transformation reflects a remarkable personal effort and commitment. With the support of the Foundation, he has become an active participant in his own learning journey, embracing positive changes in his attitude and taking greater ownership of his path toward achieving his goals.
Sharing these stories is a way of making visible the real, tangible, human, profound, compassionate, and transformative impact of the work we do at Fundación Zuá. They highlight not only academic achievements, but also the progress our children and young people make in their attitudes, independence, confidence, and participation in different activities. These stories demonstrate that, when children and young people have access to a strong support network, they can overcome discouragement, regain their motivation, and unlock their academic potential.
