From January 13 to 16, the university tutors from Patio Bonito and Bosa, along with university and pre-university students from Senderos—22 in total—gathered with the desire to prepare ourselves spiritually and psychologically to support the children who trust in us. This camp was not only a working session, but also a space for connection, reflection, and detailed planning for a year that promises great challenges.
A Legacy That Guides Our Steps: Tribute to Manuel José Ramos
We began with our hearts filled with his presence. It is impossible to silence the void he left, but it is also impossible not to celebrate his life. We paid tribute to Manuel José, where each person shared memories of his extraordinary charisma. Teacher, friend, confidant, and father; his unconditional support paved the way for those of us who continue his work today.
Evaluation and Results: Reaping the Harvest
We evaluated the impact of the previous year. The results are encouraging:
- Academic Performance: Very positive balance in the grades of children from Patio Bonito and Bosa.
- Social Transformation: We observed tangible changes in coexistence, highlighting reduced violence in daily interactions.
- Family Bond: We noticed a more committed response from mothers in protecting and caring for their children.
Strategic Planning and Challenges 2026
We looked ahead, identifying our immediate needs. The critical point to address is the low recruitment of tutors in recent years. We defined immediate actions to attract new volunteers and collaborators.
A very important point was organizing logistics for the start of classes:
- Definition of groups by location and responsible leaders.
- Preparation of facilities: painting, decoration, and classroom setup.
Advanced Training: Neurodevelopment and Empathy
Together with our neuropsychologist and coordinator of the rural campus, we deepened our understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders. The objective was clear: to understand the causes of certain behaviors in order to avoid harmful responses and ensure a timely and appropriate care pathway.
Through daily workshops, we trained our tutors in:
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
- • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
- • Language Disorders (Dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia)
- • Intellectual Disability
Art and Community: Transforming Our Environment
We did not only plan with our minds—we also worked with our hands. During the four days, we held a mural painting workshop at the rural campus. Beyond a decorative goal, this activity became a unifying experience in which the 22 participants left their mark on the exterior walls, integrating the houses into the landscape with color and beauty. It was a time of meaningful exchange that strengthened our team bonds.
None of this would have been possible without the hospitality of our hosts, who prepared every detail of the venue—from accommodation arrangements to daily meals—to welcome everyone with great care.
We concluded this gathering with renewed energy and a firm commitment to fulfill God’s will: to help one another. To our friends and benefactors: thank you for believing in us. Your support turns these dreams into tangible realities for hundreds of children.
